About Us

Metanoia Association is a network of independent, boutique member schools and affiliated centres for learners with neurodevelopmental diagnoses — because different ways of thinking deserve a different kind of education.

Metanoia schools were founded by Dr Lyn Thijsse on a simple belief: when a child is struggling, the answer is not to push them harder into a system that isn’t working. The answer is to change the way we teach. That shift — in thinking, in approach, in understanding — is what Metanoia stands for.

Across our Metanoia campuses, you’ll find calm, intentional environments where children are known and celebrated. Small classes. Individualised learning. A team that looks beyond behaviour to understand what’s really going on — and responds with skill, structure, and care. We bring together education and therapy in a way that feels natural, so support is part of the school day.

We work with children with autism, learning differences, communication and developmental delays, and social, emotional or behavioural challenges. Children who may have felt overwhelmed, misunderstood, or left behind in traditional settings. Here, they are met differently — and it shows.

Metanoia is not one school. It’s a growing collective of independently owned and operated member schools and affiliated centres, all grounded in the same philosophy and standard of support. Each one is rooted in its community, but connected by a shared way of seeing children — as capable, individual, and deserving of an education that actually works for them.
